Notes —The type of meat sauce that’s good on spaghetti. Takes almost 2 hours to simmer, so plan ahead. (unknown kcal/recipe).
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lbs 90% lean ground beef
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 med onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 tsp oregano
- 1 dried basil
- 1 tsp italian seasoning
- 1 tsp salt
- ground pepper
- 1 6oz can tomato paste
- 2 16oz cans tomato sauce
- 1 28oz can diced tomatoes (or fresh diced tomatoes)
- 8 oz fresh mushrooms
- parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Brown the ground beef, strain out the meat when done.
- In the leftover liquid, sauté onion.
- Add garlic, bay leaves, oregano, basil, italian seasoning, salt and pepper.
- Stir until garlic is cooked.
- Add tomato paste, tomato sauce and diced tomatoes.
- Stir well and bring to a simmer over medium heat.
- Cover and simmer for 1 1/2 hours.
- Top with sauteed mushroom or just stir them in.
